Hailing from the city of Mumbai, ‘Walk to School’ is only a concept that I heard from my parents or read in books. I went to a school that was 4km from home and I used the car pool system. In the traffic, even back then, this was an easy 20 minutes. Now when I take my kiddo to school, it’s a 35-minute drive!!
It’s not easy to find a good school of your choice in the locality where you live. It would be awesome, if children would have access to schools in the vicinity because that time saved can be used productively in so many areas. Also the effort on the parents is far lesser when they do need to the coordinate drops and pick-ups. I haven’t even mentioned, the joy of walking to school with friends and the health benefits.
Lodha Group recently hosted an event to announce the alliance between Shri Educare Limited and New Cuffe Parade(NCP) to launch The Shri Ram Universal School thus bringing the ‘Walk to school’ concept to Mumbai. The residents of New Cuffe Parade will soon access the teaching learning practices and value-based learning of one of the leading ICSE schools in India – The Shri Ram Schools, Delhi and Gurugram, within the confines of a world-class development. Shri Educare Limited, known for taking forward the legacy of Sir Shri Ram who was instrumental in setting up top institutions like The Lady Shri Ram School (LSR) and Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), is an institution known for imparting child-centric and unique methods of providing quality education across the country. It’s a gift the parents and children of New Cuffe Parade have access to such a progressive school which adopts new-age and innovative methods to bring out the best in their students.
