5. Folic acid
Folic acid is essential in avoiding birth defects. The recommended amount of folic acid is 0.4 mg per day. You must consume at least four servings of vegetables and two to four servings of fruit on a regular basis. Foods high in folic acid include beans, rice, and citrus fruits like orange.
