When I had my baby, one of my biggest concerns was this entire deal about cloth nappies versus diapers and with so many opinions coming in, to say that I was confused is an understatement. The older generations had their reservations against diapers and made me invest in over 2 dozen cloth nappies and plastics and receiving sheets. They were of the opinion, that the baby will not be comfortable in a diaper and will get rashes and obviously, I was horrified.
However, to my surprise, the baby was kept in diapers in the hospital, which got me thinking since I was sure the medical fraternity will not do something that is harmful. However, when I went home, on the advice of elders, my baby was put in cloth nappies and the nappy changing journey began.
I did not know how to deal with it, the countless dirty nappies, a crying baby every time the nappy was soiled, she cat naps; every time she had a dirty diaper, she would wake up and then the cycle of changing, feeding, making her sleep again and again…
Naps were short, feeding was frequent…she was so uncomfortable. And the pile of soiled nappies and clothes…it was never-ending. Then all of a sudden, I noticed some redness…I started asking people and reading and realized that it was probably the wet nappies that were causing it. That’s when I decided to give diapers a shot, I used Pampers and my life changed! My baby now could sleep for 3 hours at a time without crying and asking for a change. This also led to her feeding schedule getting better, cause she slept longer hours. That’s when I realized the efficacy of diapers, we think that diapers restrict skin breathability but that’s exactly the opposite; Pampers are comfortable and soft, in fact the Pampers pants have this soft elastic bands at the thighs which allows the skin to breathe.
I had thought that diapers cause rashes but in fact post the use of diapers, I realized that diapers actually prevent rashes because they absorb the urine. In fact cloth nappies can cause rashes if the urine if left to react with the skin.
I have now been using Pampers Pants with the World’s first 3x channel technology. Although the diaper looks so thin, it can last for hours together. The diaper claims to have 3 times the absorbing capacity and actually lived up to its promise. The baby’s bottom and the diaper remains absolutely dry. The 3 channel technology also ensures that no liquid accumulates at any one portion and is evenly distributed.
The advantages that diapers offer are innumerable so when you are told to stay away, think twice, it might change your motherhood journey!!
